A Bail Enforcement Agent is a person who
is offered or given any compensation by a bail agent or surety in exchange for assisting the bail agent or surety in apprehending
or surrendering any defendant, or keeping the defendant under necessary surveillance.
This course is designed for those interested
in learning how to capture fugitives for a monetary reward (bounty). Other names, mainly used in the United States, include,
bail enforcement agent, fugitive recovery agent, bounty hunter and bail fugitive investigator.
They work for the bail bondsman. The bail bondsman
is the person who writes the bond for the release of the defendant. A licensed bail bondsman can also act as a bounty hunter
for himself and/or another surety company in most states.
New York State Law: "Bail enforcement
agent" shall mean and include only the business of bail enforcement and shall also mean and include, separately or collectively,
the engaging in the business of enforcing the terms and conditions of a person's release from custody on bail in a criminal
proceeding, including locating, apprehending and returning any such person released from custody on bail who has failed to
appear at any stage of a criminal proceeding to answer the charge before the court in which he may be prosecuted.

vehicles; Rights of bailee/fugitive: * Taylor v. Taintor; *
Rights of accused under State Law; * Rights of accused under Federal Law; * Extradition; Criminal and civil law relating to bail bonds; Basic concepts of criminal justice law; Ethics
and professionalism; and Report writing.
